The idea

What is freedom income?

Freedom income is the monthly income your investments could pay you, so that work becomes a choice rather than a necessity. Instead of chasing one large retirement number, you build a pot that can pay you an income for life and stay in the family.

How we work it out. You tell us what you can invest each month and when you would like the income to begin. We grow the investment at a considered rate, allow for inflation, and show the income a preserve-capital withdrawal of about 3% a year could pay, for life, and aims to keep the capital intact. Every figure can be traced back to how it was reached, and nothing here is a guarantee.

Why does the future income look larger than today's?

Inflation. The same life costs more in 20 or 30 years. We show the future figure alongside its value in today's money, so the number is not misleading.
